Patna: A woman in Bihar sacrificed a neighbour’s 12-year-old son to thank a deity after she conceived a child.
The incident took place in Nadiyawan village in central Bihar’s Jehanabad district early this week, but was revealed by police on Wednesday.
As per reports, the woman, identified as Sushma Devi, was married five years ago, but was childless. Depressed, Devi and her husband consulted a local occultist who performed rituals.
Reports said when the woman conceived after some time, she went back to the occultist who advised her to sacrifice a human being to thank the deity who had blessed her with child.
Subsequently, the couple lured their neighbour’s son to an isolated area and killed him. They dumped his body in their backyard under the garbage.
In the meanwhile, the boy’s parents had registered a case with the police when they could not find their son.
Later, when local villagers were headed to the couple’s backyard they noticed a foul odour and called the police.
The officials thus recovered the decaying body of the boy.
Police have arrested three people, including the couple, so far.
“We have arrested three persons in connection with the human sacrifice. Further investigations are on,” local district superintendent of police Aditya Kumar told the media on Wednesday.
Police said the couple confessed to the killing.
”We were feeling depressed as we had no child. We killed the boy on the advice of the local tantric,” Devi was quoted as telling the police.
