New Delhi: There are 30,000-odd African students living in India, and many face racial discrimination on a daily basis. No data of those here for work from the African continent has been made available by the Foreign Ministry.

There are various problems that Africans face in India, apart from the negative portrayal of Africans as drug dealers and pimps. Indian society also has a history of racism which stems from the Vedic ages with the Aryan invasions. The concept of untouchability is also a form of racism in India, and Indian society with its hierarchical social system treats outsiders as aliens and this gives rise to racism.
