Manchester, England: The growing sexual harassment scandal has hit the British Broadcasting Corporation while a dozen members of the British parliament face allegations of inappropriate behaviour towards women.
In one BBC case tinged with more than a sense of irony, the presenter of Songs of Praise, a BBC show that features church and community choirs singing religious hymns, has been removed from his on-air duties.
Adel Jones, a 46-year-old former singer, denies that he sent inappropriate messages to a female colleague a decade ago. He initially found fame as a 12-year-old choirboy, and he has been taken off-air while the allegations are being investigated by BBC officials.
One recent poll in the UK found that 57 per cent of women said that they were the victim of sexual harassment in the workplace, or had been treated in a sexually inappropriate manner by their male bosses.
At Westminster, there are a dozen Members of Parliament facing censure over their alleged misdeeds towards women. The highest personality to fall so far is former Defence Secretary Michael Fallon who resigned his portfolio claiming that his behaviour in the past fell below acceptable standards.
