Another fashion week has gone by. I can’t believe it all happened so fast, it was almost like a dream when I landed at Milan airport on a crisp winter afternoon ready for Milan Fashion Week 2015, the backstage madness, the front-row seating, VIP treatment and, most importantly, the business and reality of fashion.

After all, it is one of the most eagerly-awaited events in the life of every fashion aficionado.

It’s interesting to note how differently each city treats fashion. London Fashion Week is all about edgy creativity; New York is all about the big bucks; Paris is the home of classic elegance; and Milan Fashion Week is really about high quality that goes beyond the catwalk. Quite often, we don’t get to see runway fashion on the streets, but in Milan, catwalk fashion is not just for the models, but even the attendees. From what I saw, everyone at the show looked like they had walked right out of the pages of a fashion magazine.

I could sense excitement in the air as soon as I landed and headed to the House of Missoni, to be greeted by their manager Elisa Bellagente. They dressed me up for the Missoni Fashion Show and I was ready to hit the front row. The first event I attended was Phillippe Model, a French shoe brand known for their stunning sneakers, then Roberto Cavalli and Missoni the next day. I had backstage access to the Missoni fashion show and caught up with Vimi Joshi from MAC Cosmetics.

For Missoni, it was all about mix and match, the ultra-feminine and ultra-fun. At the Cavalli show, against the backdrop of glittering chandeliers and mesmerising house music, models came out in tailored animal prints and raised waistlines, accentuated by ornate buckled belts.

With backstage access and the most enviable seats, I spent most of my time talking to models, world media, make-up artists, hairstylists, front row celebrity audiences and people from the global fashion industry. The after-party was at the lounge bar of the Bulgari hotel, followed by dinner at the stunning Four Seasons Milan.

Milan is a city that not only appreciates fashion, they respect it, inspire it and actually live it.

I couldn’t possibly have asked for more.
