Street food and food trucks are suddenly the focus of foodie attention, even if their presence in the UAE is, in fact, fairly limited. Following the news that Dubai Food Festival in February will have a segment on trucks and street food, Abu Dhabi Food Festival, running February 5-21, will include a “Street Feast” that will see international and local food trucks heading out across the emirate. The feast events take place over three weekends, in Madinat Zayed, Western Region, on February 5-7; at Al Mubazzarah Park, Al Ain, on February 12-14 and along Abu Dhabi Corniche from February 19-21.

The Festival also incorporates the annual Gourmet Abu Dhabi event, (February 11-20) and a new focus on local cuisine with Emirati Kitchen (February 5-7).

Vendors include UK-based ATE Street Food (slow cooked meat sliders); Indians Next Door (lamb raan curries in a naan wrap); and Yogusensi (a fruit bar). The UAE’s food truck pioneers SALT will be joined by a Jones the Grocer truck and the Desert Chill ice cream truck.

It’s run by UK street food festivals specialists Real Food Festivals. There will also be cooking demonstrations, music and entertainment, as well as an attempt to break the record for the world’s longest shawarma by Fatafeat chef Andrew Mitchell.
