It is ranked 440 among the top univeristies of the world by QS world rankings and provides internationally competitive professional degrees and also facilities for transfer of credit to other top universities in the US.

Accreditation

As a provider of quality higher education in the Gulf, AUS is licensed and its programmes are accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the United Arab Emirates. AUS is accredited in the United States of America by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

The Bachelor of Science degree programmes in chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering offered by the College of Engineering are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET (www.abet.org). The Bachelor of Science degree programme in computer science offered by the College of Engineering is also accredited by ABET (www.abet.org). The Bachelor of Architecture program of the College of Architecture, Art and Design is accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) of the United States. The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) as well as the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) degrees offered by the School of Business and Management are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

AUS employs 352 full-time faculty for its undergraduate and graduate degree programs, and 17 full-time teaching staff in its Academic Achievement Academy Bridge Programme. Faculty members represent 48 nationalities.

AUs offers full time undergradate degrees as well as graduate Masters degrees in subjects as diverse as Engineering, achitecture, language, literature, sciences, mathematics, technology and business.

In addition to the courses offered in the university’s undergraduate and graduate degree programs, AUS offers professional development courses through its Professional Development Center.

● American University of Sharjah MBA program ranked second best in Gulf by Forbes Middle East in 2012.

● AUS was the first Middle Eastern university ever invited to participate in the prestigious SaloneSatelite design exhibition to be held in Milan, Italy in 2012.

● AUS professor Dr. Nidhal Guessoum won the Templeton Foundation grant of more than AED 3 million for research on the relationship between Islam and science.

● AUS has won the first place five times in a row at the annual Gulf Programming Contest held at Khalifa University.

● The university has recently established the AUS Gulf Studies Center.

Extra Curriculars

AUS has 22 sports teams: 14 for men and 8 for women. There are more than 70 student-organized clubs, and numerous opportunities for community service. In addition, AUS offers a vibrant Performing Arts Program and cultural events—such as plays and concerts— through the academic year.
