Dubai: If you're in the mood for an African safari, you will no longer need to get on a plane once Al Ain's World Desert Oasis is built and opens to the public.

The planned tourist attraction in the emirate—featuring an African safari experience—is designed to showcase wildlife in its natural environment.

When complete, the project will cover almost 11 million square metres.

The project is meant to boost Al Ain's appeal as a tourist destination, the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council announced on Monday.

The World Desert Oasis will be built within the Zoo and Aquarium Public Institution of Al Ain and will be one of the many zones that make up Zapia Park.

Visitors will be able to explore communal areas including an oasis garden, a botanical garden, a children’s discovery area and an African World Desert.
