Dubai: The newest shopping destination in Dubai is about to get bigger.
Meraas on Monday has confirmed that by 2018, The Outlet Village in Jebel Ali will expand by 3 million square feet – bringing its total retail square footage to 4.5 million.
Abdullah Al Habbai, Group Chairman, Meraas said: “The Outlet Village was designed to diversify Dubai’s retail landscape, offering customers a unique shopping experience in a refined and elegant environment that reflects Dubai’s world-class retail standards.”
Even though The Outlet Village opened just last September, Meraas already has its eyes on expanding the venue, according to Al Habbai.
Set to become the largest luxury outlet shopping destination in the UAE, The Outlet Village will be home to 350 individual retailers and a total of 450 luxury international brands.
That’s a whole lot of shopping space to look forward to, which will be an added improvement to the existing 125 shops that you can find there now.
Construction on the second phase will start within the next two months, with consultants and contractors already appointed to work on the project.
“With one million shoppers having visited the destination, The Outlet Village is well on its way to achieving its projected footfall of 12 million per annum, said Al Habbai.
“Additionally, we have experienced an overwhelming demand and interest from fashion houses from countries around the world, including Italy, France, USA and the UK. At present, all stores within the first phase of The Outlet Village are all leased and at least 50 per cent of stores within the expansion have been leased,” he said.
The Outlet Village’s expansion phase will be beautifully designed, but the new theme will be different from the iconic Tuscan architecture showcased within the existing structure, which opened to the public back less than two months ago.
