British singer-songwriter Sami Yusuf will perform in Dubai for the first time at Dubai Opera on December 16 — and if you’re a super-fan, you can get tickets to meet him at his rehearsal the day before.

Tickets go on sale at 9am on October 27.

There’s more: Yusuf will premiere a song named Glorification, inspired by the poetry of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Yusuf said that Dubai, in many ways, represents the philosophy of his music. “[T]hat of bringing together people in celebration of our shared values, free from discrimination and prejudice,” he added.

Yusuf two months ago released his eighth album, Barakah, at Mall of the Emirates, and spoke extensively to tabloid! about the relevance of his music in today’s turbulent times.

Fans will have the opportunity to watch Yusuf’s 90-minute rehearsal a day before by buying an add-on with their ticket, although organisers had not provided the price of this at the time of writing.

“Sami Yusuf’s music transcends nations, his beautiful songs and his inclusion of traditional instruments captivate listeners and create a truly unique sound which we cannot wait to hear live in Dubai Opera’s phenomenal acoustic,” said the Opera’s chief executive Jasper Hope.
