Rihanna will perform live at this year’s Brit awards. She joins Adele, Justin Bieber, and Coldplay as one of the star names playing at the annual British music awards.

Rihanna’s eighth album, Anti, finally appeared on Jay Z’s Tidal service last week after several months of delay. It received a mixed reception from critics — some complained about the lack of hit singles, while others applauded the record’s more left field approach. However it has already gone platinum in the UK and hit the No 1 spot on iTunes in 30 countries. The album’s lead single Work went to the top spot in 90 countries.

It’s not the first time Rihanna has performed at the Brits — she also played in 2008, 2011 and 2012 and is the winner of two previous Brit awards for international female solo artist. Other performers scheduled to play the Brits include James Bay, Little Mix, the Weeknd and Jess Glynne. A tribute to David Bowie, who died in January aged 69, is also planned.

The Brit awards take place on February 24 at the O2 Arena in London. It will be hosted by Ant and Dec and broadcast live on ITV. Adele, James Bay and Years & Years are the front-runners with four nominations each.
