It looked like Beliebers in the UAE were to get another chance to see their hero perform — but then the tour date suddenly disappeared.

Justin Bieber's website had listed a Dubai show on May 6, 2017 at the Autism Rocks Arena ifor his 'Purpose Tour'.

But as quickly as the excitement spread, so did the disappointment when the date was removed on Tuesday.

Social media was abuzz with the prospect of Bieber coming to Dubai.

A local organiser had been teasing about a 'huge act' that they were going to announce, dropping letters from Bieber's name since last week. It looks like wires were crossed somewhere along the line.

The singer performed in the city for two nights in 2013 at the Sevens Stadium.

Earlier today, it was revealed that the 22-year-old singer has been nominated for four awards at the 2017 Grammys, including bids for Song of the Year and Pop Solo Performance of the Year with Love Yourself.

Bieber has also been nominated for Pop Vocal Album of the Year and Album of the Year with Purpose.
