Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty took on the role of ‘Her Majesty’ for Delhi-based designer duo Rimple and Harpreet Narula on the fourth day of Amazon India Couture Week 2015.

Donning a heavily embroidered gold lehnga-choli, the Dhadkan star, who walked for the designers for the first time, looked subtle yet royal in their days of Raj collection titled “Maharajah & Co”.

“I have been wearing Rimple and Harpreet’s creations, but this is the first time I am walking the ramp as a show-stopper for them. They are very talented and I feel really happy in walking for them,” Shetty said.

The designer duo are known for mixing rural crafts with fine hand embroideries.

“Shilpa was a perfect showstopper for us. The way she pulled off the outfit no one else could have done,” said Rimple.

The collection, which was dominated by subtle gold karigari, presented the early interactions of the royals with western luxury where they called the photographers from Europe to capture them.

“The main theme of the show was how Maharajas functioned in the past with influence from the West,” she added.

Shetty, who appeared on the ramp during the middle of the show, said: “I just fell in love with the concept of the show. In those times there was no option to take selfies and photographers were actually commissioned to come take their photo. It was unique and I loved the way the old-world charm was created on stage,” she said.

In hues of ivory, beige, burnished golds and velveteen ruby, all the outfits had hand-crafted embroidery and crystals.
