The grey clouds are clearing up and my car isn’t covered in dried up rain anymore. Yup, it’s almost summer. Thank goodness we have air conditioning in the UAE, or else I would not be this excited for things to heat up. With the rising temperature comes all things bright, perky and colourful. Here are my top picks to get you in the summer spirit.

Kiko Milano High Pigment eyeshadow in Pearly Tangerine

Out of all the brights, orange tones are the least intimidating to wear. This shade is slightly pearly and can be layered to make it really bright. The colour leans on the pastel side so it’s work appropriate but still fun. Available at Kiko Milano stores.

Colourpop eyeshadow in Piece of Cake

If you face colour with a brave face, then this shade is the one to watch out for this summer. It’s an indigo blue that reminds me of days lounging at the pool. Wear it on its own or use a wet eyeliner brush for a bold winged look. Available on colourpop.com

Becca Mineral Blush in Hyacinth

This is one scary colour in the pan; it’s a bright, matte fuchsia that reminds me of the powdered dyes used to smear on people’s faces in the Indian festival of Holi. Fear not! Use this with a fluffy brush and a light hand for a beautiful summer blush. Available at Sephora.

Mac Liptensity Lipstick in Postmodern

The formula of this lipstick will be a nice change from the matte lipsticks that we so loved during the winter. It’s hydrating and highly pigmented so you won’t have to use much to get a really vibrant look. This ultra bright coral is a beach-ready lip.

Bath and Body Works body mist in Hello Beautiful

When I’m too lazy to wear a full-on perfume this product is what I reach for. It’s sweet but not sickly, and it has notes such as pomelo, nectarine and jasmine that all scream freshness. It absolutely makes scents for summer. Available at Bath and Body Works.
