Ignoring beauty trends is not my strong suit and the current boom in treatments for eyelashes, one of my favourite facial features, is not helping. When I was given a change to try out the LVL Lashes at Browz in Dubai, I couldn’t say no.
I’m not a fan of bulky lash extensions so I was glad to find out that the LVL Lashes treatment is simply an enhancement of the lashes your mama gave you and lasts for 6-8 weeks. LVL stands for length, volume and lift, and is said to be a better and more advanced alternative to the lash perm.
Laying down in the chair of the Browz salon, I’m not sure what to expect but I’m excited. The technician begins by gently placing a sticky strip along my lash line, above the lashes. She then starts pushing the lashes into the strip, adhering them there. It’s a strange feeling to have the lashes stuck at such a weird angle, but it does not hurt at all.
The next few steps involve serums and a lash tint being brushed onto the lashes in succession. Apart from one particularly smelly serum, it’s a painless and calming 45 minutes. Keep in mind that you can’t open your eyes the whole time, so make sure you’re prepared to do some meditating or gossiping with your technician.
After careful removal of the lashes from the sticky tape, a mirror is handed to me to check out the results and all I could say was ‘wow’. My lashes look like I had just used curlers on them and multiple coats of mascara. Weeks later, my lashes still have a full but natural doe-like look to it and I don’t need as much mascara to go dramatic.
This treatment is perfect for those with usually hidden pin-straight lashes, however, the LVL Lashes may not have a major impact on those with very fine or sparse lashes. Do use the free consultation with a technician beforehand to see what’s best for you.
For me, it worked wonderfully and this is one trend that I see myself indulging in again.
