You’ve performed in the UAE quite a few times. What keeps bringing you back?

The crowds here are just amazing. Their spontaneous energy is so infectious I always look forward to visiting this place.

You are headlining the opening night of Beats on the Beach. How does it feel to be part of the corniche line-up?

I was very happy when they offered me the opening slot. It doesn’t get any better than this. I want my fans to feel the vibe, the roll, the pulse. I have been asked to bring high-tempo music. That is guaranteed. So it is going to be a lot of fun.

Do new talents get enough support and encouragement from the music industry?

What we need are original talents. Many aspiring artists take up the gauntlet to participate in big talent shows. But actually the real work starts when the shows are over. Determination and passion are key ingredients to truly “making it big”.

When you are in a judging panel, what is more important to you - talent, determination, stage presence or star factor?

It’s all of the above. Each artist is different. I don’t stick to stick to a formula. My job is to let each artist shine and to work with their strengths.

When you are not busy with The Voice, what do you do?

I just released my new album Bless This Mess. So that is keeping me busy and I am preparing for tours and concerts to promote the album.

Are you releasing a new album soon?

Now my focus is on the one that’s just got released. Fans can listen to it on Apple music or Spotify, or on the website Blessthismessthealbum.com.
