Dubai:  Another Filipino designer will take centre stage and this time it will be in the American film “Fifty Shades Freed.”

Monique Lhuillier, daughter of a jeweller based in the Philippines, has been commissioned to create the wedding gown of Dakota Johnson’s character in the third and final instalment of E.L. James’ popular erotic trilogy, published in 2012.

Johnson plays Anastasia Steele, the lead character in the film, which is scheduled to hit the theatres in February.

Lhuillier made the announcement on Instagram on Tuesday, hinting that Johnson will be shown wearing one of the designer’s bridal creations when the film hits the big screen next month.

“The climactic final chapter begins Valentine’s Day. Can’t wait to unveil the dress,” she wrote in her post.

It isn't the first time Hollywood is tapping into the creativity of Filipinos,

The works of Dubai-based Filipino designer Michael Cinco were earlier featured in a Hollywood film "Jupiter Ascending." Three of his creations, including the wedding dress worn by Mila Kunis, had gained global attention.
