She traded in her classic look for just a kiss of blush and a hint of eye colour that leaves readers wondering whose picture they’re actually seeing — until a few shots show up featuring Xtina’s eyelashes laden with rich black pigment, and then others with some glitter on her eyes, and all is right with the world.
Hey, 37 years in, she’s earned the right to play fast and loose with her look, right?
“I’ve always been someone that obviously loves to experiment, loves theatrics, loves to create a storyline and play a character in a video or through stage,” Aguilera tells Paper.
“I’m a performer, that’s who I am by nature. But I’m at the place, even musically, where it’s a liberating feeling to be able to strip it all back and appreciate who you are and your raw beauty.”
Still, she says, she loves a good face ‘do.
“I mean, I’m a girl that likes a beat face,” Aguilera said, “let’s not get it twisted.”
