Brooklyn Beckham, the eldest son of former footballer David Beckham and designer Victoria Beckham, has launched a 300-page hardcover book called what I see. The book, published along with fashion brand Ralph Lauren, offers glimpses into the 18-year-old’s priviledged life, from attending parties with his famous parents to going on luxury holidays.

Critics have been rather harsh, however, with many professional photographers critising the young Beckham’s work and photo captions.

The Sun’s royal photographer Arthur Edwards is quited as saying by the daily: “It’s a bit early to start releasing books when you have not mastered the basic skills.”

Publisher Penguin Random House quickly came to Beckham’s defense, saying the book is for teenagers and by teenagers.

What I See gives Brooklyn’s fans broader insight into his world seen through his unique and creative perspective,” Managing Director Francesca Dow tells The Independent. “Teenagers lives are filled with the visual image and we know Brooklyn’s photos resonate with his huge young following, who avidly follow his life through his photography. We are proud to bring these images together in a book for a young generation for the first time.”
