Popular stage, TV and film actress Thodupuzha Vasanthi died on Tuesday, according to sources. She was 65.
Vasanthi had been sick for a while, they said.
In a film career that began in 1975, Vasanthi has acted in more than 450 films and was mostly seen doing side roles and even negative ones.
Some of her most popular films include Yavanika, Poochakkoru Mookkuthi — directed by Priyadarshan, Nirakootu and Godfather to name a few.
Her husband died earlier. They did not have any children.
In her over long career, she had acted alongside with all the leading stars of the Malayalam film industry.
After she was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago, she was mostly in and out of hospital. It was only after the local media reported on her condition did the Malayalam film industry learn about it.
The funeral will take place at Thodupuzha, her home town, on Tuesday evening.
