South Indian stars revealed another side to them during the previously held Celebrity Cricket League matches.

Now comes the Celebrity Badminton League that will begin in Kochi on September 24. Four teams from the four south Indian states — Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh — will participate in a series of matches that will culminate with finals to be held in Kuala Lumpur on November 12.

From Kannada cinema, Puneeth Rajkumar, as brand ambassador, brings the Karnataka Alps. The team led by Diganth comprises of Kannada actors, namely Yogesh, Indrajit Lankesh, Prajwal Devaraj, Ravi Chetan, Jagadish C, Arun U.A, Karthik C.S., Kavitha Lankesh, Krishi Tapanda, Disha Pooviah and Abanka Deka. Aindrita is the team motivator.

Jayaram leads the Kerala Royals from Malayalam cinema. The team includes Narain, Baiju, Arun Nandakumar, Saiju Kurup, Sekhar Menon, Rajeev Pillai, Sreenath Bhasi, Rony David, Ranjini Haridas, Parvathi Nambiar and Rosin Jolly. Mamta Mohandas is the brand ambassador and Pearle Maaney, the team motivator.

The Telugu cinema team, Tollywood Thunders is led by Sudheer Babu. The team players are Tarun Kumar, Nikhil, Kaushal Manda, Anil, Krishna Chaitanya, Sathya Dev, Naveen, Tejasvi Madivada, Sanjana Gilranai and Apoorva Srinivasan. Naga Chaitanya is the brand ambassador and Charme Kaur the team motivator.

Arya leads the Chennai Rockers from Tamil cinema and the members are Bharath, Vaibhav, Amitash, Prasanna, Munna Simon, Shanthanu, Ineya, Gayathri, Rupa Manjari, Suja Varunee and Abhinav Vaddi. Madhavan is the brand ambassador and Amala Paul the team motivator.

At a press conference held in Chennai, Hemachandran, founder and CEO of CBL, said: “CBL in its first season has been able to garner support from four south Indian cine personalities, proving that badminton is one of the most loved sports across the world. Our ambition is to ensure that we will have a team from Bollywood. And, in future a team from Hollywood participating in the next CBL seasons.”

Now that is quite an ambitious swing.
