Director Muthaiya’s movies are set in picturesque villages of Tamil Nadu, and like the unadulterated ambience around these regions, the stories he narrates are about simple human bonds.

If Kutti Puli was about a mother and her son’s emotions, Komban spoke about the relationship between a son-in-law and his father-in-law. Muthaiya’s last film, Marudhu, talked about a grandmother’s love for her grandson.

In his upcoming film Kodiveeran, he has pivoted his story on the brother-sister bond.

“Having lived in a large family, I am comfortable about writing about relationships and its emotions,” said Muthaiya. “Kodiveeran is centred around three pairs of siblings and their bonds.”

Set in Madurai, Kodiveeran has actor-director Sasi Kumar playing the title role.

Kodiveeran’s sister Parvathy is played by Malayalam actress Sanusha. There is another sibling pair in the village played by Pasupathy and Poorna. Mahima Nambiar is paired opposite Sasi Kumar.

Kodiveeran has a good mix of romance, action and family sentiments, promised Muthaiya.
