Well-known Malayalam actor Dileep, who is in prison in connection with the case related to abduction and abuse of an actress by a gang earlier this year, will remain in jail for the time being.
The Angamaly magistrate court has extended his remand period until August 22. This is the third time that his remand is being extended. The actor is presently lodged in the sub jail in Aluva.
Owing to the difficulties in taking the actor to the court each time because of the crowds that throng the police vehicle when he is taken out, the court proceedings were conducted through video conferencing.
Meanwhile, a team of doctors who inspected the actor in prison confirmed that his health was satisfactory. The development comes in the backdrop of reports that the actor has been physically drained following his imprisonment.
It was in February this year that the actress, who was returning to Kochi after a shoot in Thrissur was abducted, driven around in a vehicle for a few hours and sexually assaulted. Dileep has denied any involvement in the incident.
