The much talked-about and long-awaited marriage of Malayalam film industry’s actors, Kavya Madhavan and Dileep took place on Friday in Kochi in the presence of close friends and relatives.
This is a second marriage for both the stars. Dileep was earlier married to actress Manju Warrier, who withdrew from films after marrying Dileep in 1998. Madhavan was married in 2009 to a computer engineer, which ended in one year.
For several years, Madhavan and Dileep provided a constant fodder for gossip and their nature of their relationship was always debated. With their marriage, this topic might just get a much-needed closure.
Dileep first announced the marriage on Friday morning via Facebook Live, a few minutes before the ceremony.
“Just as I am about to enter a new phase in life, I am upholding my promise to my fans that I will always be the one informing you of any move like this. I am going to get married today,” said Dileep, adding that the decision to marry was taken after discussing it with his daughter, family and friends. “I have always been in the gossip columns linking me to Kavya and therefore we took this decision to marry. It’s time to get married, please pray for me. Do not try to twist this matter or look for meanings, just pray for me”.
“I did not know about this, till a few hours back. My husband [producer Suresh] told me that he has to visit a temple. Maybe he knew. Anyway this is good news for all of us,” said yesteryear actress, Maneka.
“Only those very close to the couple are there today and this has happened with the support of both the families,” said Ranjith, a producer and husband of actress Chippi at the marriage venue.
“Finally there is an end to unnecessary speculations and Dileep has the complete support of his daughter — Meenakshi,” said veteran director Kamal.
Madhavan and Dileep have been paired in 21 films including Meeshamadhavan, Thenkasipattenenm, Pappi Appacha and the latest with legendary filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan Pinneyum.
According to news reports, the newly-married couple will head to Dubai after the low-profile wedding this evening for a few days.
The ceremony in Kochi was also attended by their close friend superstar Mammootty, and Meera Jasmine.
