When Sriram and his family returns to his hometown in Kerala, he has plans of starting a restaurant similar to the one he worked in in the UK.

But his dreams go bust and he before he knows it he is at the mercy of a loan shark.

Malayalam actor Biju Menon plays the lead in Oraayiram Kinakkalal, helmed by debutant director Pramod Mohan. Sakshi Aggarwal, who has worked in Tamil cinema and a Kannada film, steps into Malayalam cinema opposite Menon. She plays Preethi, Sriram’s wife and mother to a six-year-old daughter with one more child on the way.

Mohan began his career in television as a programme producer with Asianet and subsequently directed a sitcom titled Just Fun-Chumma for Amrita TV. This is his first feature film. Referring to Menon as a chilled out actor, Mohan says that Sriram is in a way leading a double life.

“On one hand he is trying to keep up his upper middle class status alive while hiding the truth from his wife and on the other hand he is caught in a financial problem,” the director said.

Things take a turn after Sriram befriends Jaison, a mobile store technician who comes with a plan to make a quick buck.

Oraayiram Kinakkalal then becomes a thriller.
