Does south Indian actor Arjun need any introduction?

Arjun, fondly known as ‘action king’, has worked in all four south Indian languages and has an impressive repertoire of films to his credit, especially stories with a social message. He returns with Nibunan, a crime thriller. This film made in Tamil and Kannada is directed by Arun Vaidyanathan.

Arjun plays a Deputy Superintendent of Police. Arjun has played policemen earlier in his films. What’s different about this policeman?

“Unlike his earlier characters that showed him as a tough guy, Ranjith Kalidas of Nibunan is a calm and composed officer,” says Vaidyanathan, who debuted with the critically acclaimed Achamundu Achamundu (Tamil).

“At the core is a murder mystery and on loose is a psychotic serial killer. Ranjith Kalidas who is respected for his intelligent analysis of cases is entrusted with the job of finding the killer,” he adds.

Nibunan boasts of an ensemble of stars. Prasanna and Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar are playing Kalidas’ assistants. Suhasini Maniratnam, Suman and Vaibhav play supporting roles.

The story also dwells on the personal life of Kalidas. Kannada actress Shruthi Hariharan is Arjun’s onscreen wife. The film was shot in Chennai and Bengaluru.

Vaidyanathan adds that his films are a blend of the east and west and with Nibunan he has found the right recipe for an intriguing thriller.

Nibunan, produced by Passion Studios, releases in the UAE on July 27.
