Despite Anushka Sharma’s spokesperson denying the couple are getting married this month, the wedding rumours refuse to die down.
The actress and her family took off for Italy with a priest in tow, even as beau Virat Kohli has taken leave of absence from the Indian cricket tour.
According to media reports, the power couple will tie the knot in a private villa in Tuscany anywhere between December 11 and 14.
Stories also circulating include alleged wedding cards that have been handed out by Sharma’s father to their neighbours, along with the actress’ film industry friends, Shah Rukh Khan and Yash Raj Films head, Aditya Chopra.
As Sharma and her family members were departing for their flight at Mumbai airport, they were dogged by questions on rumours about the wedding. All of them chose to keep mum about it.
However, in a media statement, Sharma’s spokesperson has denied the reports saying: “Anushka has gone on a break.”
According to media reports, a reception is also planned in Mumbai on December 26.
The Indian captain has said he needed to rest because of his “massive workload”, ahead of the national side’s tour of South Africa in January.
Kohli and Sharma, both 29, started dating in 2013 after they met during the filming of a shampoo advert.
The high-profile couple made their first public appearance a year later during a football match.
Kohli is one of the world’s highest-paid Indian athletes.
