DUBAI: Indian superstar Amitabh Bachchan has asked an angry Dubai-based fan not to ‘hate the media’ after she tweeted her feelings and called for a boycott of the newspapers which named the actor in their expose on the Panama paper leaks.

"Media is messenger… do not hate them .. they deliver what they hear or read or get to find out .. they are postmen,” Bachchan said from his official twitter handle @SrBachchan in response to a post by house wife Anamika.

“But I can’t tolerate this,” Anamika shot back.

“Chod do, jaane do” [Let go, leave it] Bachchan advised the die-hard fan who has been idolising the actor from her childhood and calls herself a 'member' of his extended family in the UAE.

“Yes, I am a big fan of Bachchanji. I have been following his blogs and tweets almost daily and routinely interact with him on social media. I even met him when he was in Dubai for TOIFA last month,” Anamika told XPRESS.

The veteran actor found himself in the eye of a global maelstrom this week when newspapers investigating a massive leak of some 11.5 million documents from Panama-based firm Mossack Fonseca reported that Amitabh Bachchan was the director of four shipping firms registered in offshore tax havens over two decades ago. His daughter in law actress Aishwarya Rai was figured in the leaks.

On Tuesday, Bachchan issued a statement saying he doesn’t know any of the four companies referred in the newspapers.
