Dedicated to all things Bollywood, the Bollywood Parks Dubai will open this evening at 5pm.

Spread out in 1.7 million square feet and divided into five zones — Bollywood Boulevard, Mumbai Chowk, Rustic Ravine, Royal Plaza and Bollywood Film Studios — the park will offer 16 rides and attractions related to blockbusters from the Hindi film industry, such as Sholay, Dabangg, Ra.One, Krrish and Lagaan. Live song, dance and stunt performances will take place at intervals.

The exquisite palace-like theatre Raj Mahal will open sometime next month with a resident operatic performance Jaan-e-Jigar.

And if you get hungry the park offers everything from street food, such as vada pav, to eateries such as Shahenshah and Jumbo Café, to fine dining at Mughal-E-Azam.

“The idea for [Bollywood Parks] came up four years ago when Dubai Parks & Resorts was actually just two parks — Legoland and Motiongate. The latter is based on Hollywood IPs [intellectual properties] like Shrek, Kung Fu Panda and Ghosbusters, and during that time the idea came up as to why just Hollywood, why not Bollywood,” Thomas Jellum, general manager of Bollywood Parks Dubai told Gulf News tabloid! before the opening. “It was a kind of no-brainer [because] in this region a lot of people are knowledgeable of Bollywood through television and movies and through music. The USP [of the park] will be the actual IPs and movie stars and movies, in addition to that the great amount of shows that will happen almost every 20 minutes between 10 and 20 performers on different stages throughout the park. We also will have dance classes, which will be very important for us”.

Single day passes are for Dh285 on bollywoodparksdubai.com. Dubai Parks are situated on Shaikh Zayed Road, opposite Palm Jebel Ali.
