Actress Vidya Balan has come out in support of her colleagues Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Karan Johar, saying they haven’t made “irresponsible statements” about intolerance in India.

The two Khans and Johar recently spoke up about the rise of religious intolerance, for which they received massive backlash.

“We all have freedom of expression. Whether you are working in a factory or in films, you should have the right to say what you want to. When you are working in films, you are an actor and when you are popular, people listen to you more,” Balan told reporters at an event in Mumbai.

“But no one is making irresponsible statements. I can have an opinion and I can express it. You may find it wrong but as long as I find it right I should be able to express it. You have the right to oppose it... that is absolutely healthy,” she added.
