While several religious groups, including the Vishva Hindu Parishad and the Bajrang Dal, have led protests against Kabir Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Salman Khan, the co-producer of the film, is not bothered by the uproar.

“If they are a religious group then the basic thing they should know is that every religion respects the other person’s religion,” Khan said at an event to launch the song Aaj Ki Party from Bajrangi Bhaijaan, along with Kabir Khan, composer Pritam and singer Mika Singh.

“Every religion preaches only one thing: to follow your religion and to be respectful, and to respect the other person’s beliefs and religion. I don’t think anyone can protest on this,” he said

A right-wing groups are demanding the film’s title be changed as they say it hurts the sentiments of Hindus.

‘Bajrangi’ references the Hindu deity Hanuman, known for his strength but is also used to denote someone who is strongly built. ‘Bhaijaan’ is an Urdu word meaning ‘brother’ but said with respect.

In the film, Khan plays a do-gooder who crosses paths with a Pakistani girl lost in India, and takes on the task of taking her back home. The film is out worldwide on Eid.
