Dubai: When he was just five years old, his grandfather held up a napkin, empty on both sides, and then suddenly he wrapped it around his fingers and voila! There were two coins inside.
This was the beginning of a magical journey for Ahmed Al Bayed, Middle East’s master illusionist.
Today, he is well known in the region for taking on stunts and tricks that have never been attempted before. He has been performing live on stage since he was 13 years old, and has been a finalist on Arabs Got Talent and has hosted his own television show.
When asked about what his most difficult stunt has been so far, he told Gulf News: "Magic is dangerous."
He referred to a trick wherein he pushes metal rods into a box, which isn't empty.
He said: "There is a performer inside and from the outside, I cannot know if he has taken his position or not. I'm going with the flow and the pace of the music."
He is currently in Dubai and will be performing live at the City Centre Mirdif from January 21 to 23 and at City Centre Deira from January 25 to 27.
