Dubai: Around 5,000 yoga enthusiasts are expected to stretch and flex in an annual Dubai festival in November for the ancient practice, the organiser says.

Now happening for the sixth time, YogaFest Middle East will take place on the grass of the Dubai Internet City Amphitheatre over the weekend on November 18-19.

New to this year’s festival will be classes by well-known yoga instructor Dechen Thurman.

Thurman is the brother of Hollywood actress Uma Thurman, best known as the icy heroine of the Kill Bill films.

Festival goers can choose from over 150 classes and workshops by local and international teachers, and attend lectures and concerts on healthy living, nutrition and yoga philosophy. Apart from yoga, Pilates, dance, qi gong and meditation will also feature in the festival.

Organisers say that this year’s festival will be dedicated to sustainability. Vendors will sell yoga leggings made from recycled plastic and home-made aromatherapy sprays.

The festival uses entry-based donations to raise funds for a non-profit organisation. This year, organisers will donate to the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children.

The foundation is the first licensed non-profit shelter in the UAE, specifically for the care of women and children.

People planning to attend can register on the event’s website. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/yogafest-2016-tickets-27773097081?ref=elink ]
