Dubai: Premjit Bangara, general manager-travel at Sharaf Travel Services, shares the following tips:

Combine a holiday destination which would be reasonably close to your home (UAE, in this case) as that would give you cost saving benefits on the airfare.

For example, there are many triangular fares involving the Far East and India where the price differential is approximately Dh400 to Dh700 dirhams per ticket, thereby benefiting leisure travellers from the region who would want to combine a holiday with a visit home.

There are similar add-ons on the European and US sectors which are definitely value for money and are also popular with our clients.

These side trips can be combined with land arrangements such as hotels, local excursions, travel insurance and car hire offered locally by airlines and travel consortium and in many cases are cheaper than buying stand alone tickets and land arrangements on the net.

The best deals going around at the moment are into Thailand, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Jordan, Turkey and Greece.

Average package costs for a minimum three nights/four days package would start around Dh3000 to Dh4000 per person inclusive of airfare and accommodation for the countries mentioned above.
