The Ministry of Interior’s Cinema Award went to writer Fareed Ramadan, who took home a cheque for $100,000.


Young Journalist recognised at Diff

The Young Journalist Award at this year's Dubai International Film Festival went to Sanjay Shankar.

Gulf News' Managing Editor, Mohammed Almezel, handed out the award. Continuing the successful partnership between Gulf News and Diff, the Young Journalist Award, gives budding writers and filmmakers unrivalled access to the world of cinema.


 

Muhr Awards begins, 13 vie for best Emirati film award

The Muhr Awards at the Dubai International Film Festival has begun.

Shaikh Mansour Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum is one of the distinguished guests at the award ceremony.

This year, 13 films are competing in the Muhr Awards - Emirati category. One of the contenders is Nujoom Alghanem's feature film, SharpTools.


59 films competing for Muhr Awards

The Dubai International Film Festival will be announcing the winner of the Muhr Awards, a platform that showcases talent in Arab cinema. 

This year’s selection comprised 59 biopics, comedies, dramas and love stories from the Arabian Peninsula, Levant and North Africa, vying across four categories: Muhr Emirati, Muhr Features (fiction or non-fiction), Muhr Short and Muhr Gulf Short.
