The Dubai International Film Festival (Diff) has unveiled its list of movies that will feature in the Cinema of the World segment.

Filmmaker Jonas Carpignano’s A Ciambra, which is Italy’s official submission to the Oscars in the foreign-language category, will feature along with A Gentle Creature (Krotkaya) by Ukraine’s Sergei Loznitsa.

Russian filmmaker Andrey Zvyagintsev’s Loveless (Nelyubov), which won the Jury Prize at this year’s 70th Cannes Film Festival, will feature with Anup Singh’s The Song of Scorpions.

Other films to feature in the segment include French filmmaker Sonia Kronlund’s documentary, Nothingwood, Czech director Jan Svěrak’s Second World War drama Barefoot, British-Pakistani short film director Sarmad Masud’s My Pure Land and Indian director Dipesh Jain’s drama, In the Shadows.

Other films on the list include British-Zambian filmmaker Rungano Nyoni’s debut feature I Am Not a Witch, Swedish filmmaker Ruben Ostlund’s The Square that won the Palme d’Or at Cannes and Iranian-born Milad Alami’s debut feature film The Charmer.

Diff’s Artistic Director, Masoud Amralla Al Ali,said: “Diff’s Cinema of the World programme embraces diversity in all of its forms through its commitment to sharing the best films from around the globe.”

The film festival runs from December 6 until 13, with ticket packages available through Diff.ae, starting at Dh275.
