Arabic gamers are getting their own version of LEGO Marvel’s Avengers — a videogame that explores the Marvel Universe through LEGO figurines.

The game — on both the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system and Xbox One — will be available in Arabic as a part of its new Arab localisation programme, the company announced this morning. it will be launched at the Middle East Film and Comic Con, which starts today in Dubai at the World Trade Centre.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, the company behind Lego Marvel’s Avengers, said the game will now have full voice dubbing and customisation of the user interface.

Arabic localisation is an increasingly important issue for game companies, and it’s great to see the LEGO games joining the scene, says Gulf News’ in-house gaming expert (and chief business reporter) Andrew Staples, “The Middle East is an important market, worth more than $1 billion (Dh3.67 billion) in console and PC games alone. Localisation allows companies access to markets where English as not as widely spoken as the UAE.” Saudi Arabia is one of the key ones, he adds.

Developed by TT Games, LEGO Marvel’s Avengers is the first videogame to feature storylines from the critically-acclaimed film Marvel’s The Avengers and its hit sequel Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, as well as playable content based on additional Marvel Studios blockbusters, including Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger, Marvel’s Iron Man 3, Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World and Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

In LEGO Marvel’s Avengers, gamers can play and unlock more than 200 characters, with over 100 new characters that have not appeared in a LEGO videogame before. For the first time, players can execute Avengers Team-Up Moves — that means combos using core Avengers including Black Widow, Captain America, Hawkeye, Hulk, Thor and Iron Man.

TT Games are the people behind the LEGO videogame franchises LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Indiana Jones, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, and LEGO Harry Potter. The game’s producer Matt Ellison has worked on LEGO Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars, LEGO Harry Potter Years 5-7, LEGO Batman 2 DC Super Heroes, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, LEGO Movie The Videogame, LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. He is currently working on LEGO Marvel’s Avengers.
