Garden brunch back at Toko

Fridays, noon-4pm, the contemporary Japanese spot in Downtown Dubai is taking it outside. The Garden brunch, from Dh195, is family-friendly with a carving station (ribeye and chicken), dim sum and Japanese sliders, and robata-grilled sticky soy honey and sesame chicken drumsticks and sweet chilli Angus beef skewers; plus, of course, sushi and sashimi. Kids get a play area with face painting, balloon twisting and a clown. Call 04-4428383.

Novikov’s early-bird special

The newly opened pan-Asian restaurant at the Sheraton Grand has launch a Beat The Traffic menu — because having a set dinner is so much better than sitting in Shaikh Zayed Road traffic. The four-course menu is served daily from 6-7.30pm for Dh195 per person and includes Tom Yum soup, and a choice of starter, main course and dessert; call 04-3888744.

Jean-Georges opens his terrace

It’s time to eat outdoors at Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s Dubai restaurant at the Four Seasons Resort, taking his modern French-American cuisine into the sunshine — and the moonlight, with weekly event nights. JG Gentleman is on Mondays, with a focus on drinks and cigars; Tuesday night Trends partners with fashion labels for pop-ups. Finally, Sundays are for women with two glasses of bubbles from 7-9.30pm. Meanwhile, the more casual option of JG Kitchen has a new business lunch, Express45, served in 45 minutes, for Dh145. Call 04-3436118.
