Women, their struggles and their strengths, are at the forefront of the second edition of the Queens of Drama series at The Junction.

The event, featuring five short plays written and directed by women, runs between April 6 and 8 at Alserkal Avenue, Al Quoz, from 7.30pm. Tickets before March 31 are Dh75; after that Dh100.

Plays on the stage list are i, by Dhruti Shah, a journey of self-discovery; This Show is Always On, by Rosine Sa’ad, winner of the Best Script Award for Short+Sweet Dubai 2016, which takes on everyday life; Please Don’t Cry (Farheen Khan), on post-natal depression; Runway, by Peri Desai, about dealing with the consequences of your decisions; and The Pink Ribbon, by Purva Grover, which deals with breast cancer from the point of view of a survivor.

“Each writer/director was given complete independence in picking the subject they wanted to write about, as long as the story they narrated and depicted on stage, revolved around women,” says Rashmi Kotriwala, festival director, Queens of Drama, and co-founder of The Junction, in a statement.

This one’s for the men who want to know how women think and for women so they know they aren’t alone.
