Fans of Marvel will have to wait a little longer to go on rides inspired by the superhero franchise in Dubai.

IMG Worlds of Adventure on Thursday announced its opening has been pushed back to August 31. It had been due to open on August 15.

The theme park is an indoor attraction with four worlds, featuring Marvel Studios characters, as well as those from Cartoon Network; a dinosaur world called Lost Valley; and an entertainment centre called IMG Boulevard.

A statement said the park’s operators are “currently fine-tuning the last remaining details”. Those who have bought tickets from August 15 will be reissued tickets with new dates, and given Fast Track passes, which give priority access, free of charge. They should email Guestrelations@IMGworlds.com

“We are excited about launching the world’s largest indoor theme park which will be a major tourism attraction for Dubai, the surrounding regions and the rest of the world. We have partnered with some of the biggest global brands in the industry, including Marvel and Cartoon Network and we have secured exceptional sponsors. We have developed many spectacular one-of-a-kind rides and attractions and we are now completing the final touches,” said Lennard Otto, chief executive officer of IMG Worlds of Adventure.

The 1.5 million sqft park will have 20 rides and attractions, including roller-coasters, 28 food and beverage outlets, and 25 retail outlets.
