High traffic caused several websites and apps to crash on Thursday morning as fans tried to get their hands on Ed Sheeran tickets. This for his November 23 show at Autism Rocks Arena in Dubai. At 10.50am, organisers told tabloid! the event was completely sold out.

Organisers encouraged people to be patient and keep trying during the general sale, which kicked off at 10am.

The Dubai Calendar app displayed a message that the performance was “not currently available” while Platinumlist did not immediately show ticket availability, and occasionally crashed. Virgin Megastore was another seller, whose website repeatedly would not load in the face of high demand.

Some fans were able to purchase tickets, while others aired their frustrations on Twitter. However, organisers kept in close touch with followers on social media and advised them not to give up.

A limited number of tickets were allocated for the general sale on Thursday, after the pre-sale had sold out within hours. General sale sold out within less than an hour.

Sheeran is known to generate high levels of demand in the UAE; his 2015 show also sold out quickly and left many lingering outside the venue on show day in hopes of finding tickets.
