Pre-sale tickets to see Ed Sheeran at Dubai’s Autism Rocks Arena on November 23 sold out in all categories within hours, organisers announced on Wednesday.

A “very limited number of tickets” will go on general sale on Thursday, starting at 10am.

“In my 17 years of staging shows here in the Middle East, I have never seen such a fantastic pre-registration result for any show, nor the unprecedented pre-sale numbers we have experienced today,” said Thomas Ovesen, CEO of 117Live. 117Live most recently held a Justin Bieber concert at the venue.

117Live are cautioning fans to avoid purchasing tickets to see Sheeran from ticket resellers, such as Viagogo, as they are unable to verify the validity of said tickets, or guarantee that they will be honoured at the door. Some tickets are being resold for Dh2,000.

Doors to see Sheeran open at 4pm, but the singer is planning a late start — 10pm, to be exact. Organisers say this is so people have enough time to get to the venue from work, as the show is on a Thursday.

In March, Guns ‘n Roses performed at the same venue at 9pm, but due to traffic jams, some ticketholders complained that they weren’t able to arrive in time for the show’s start.

Sheeran, 26, previously played a sold-out show at Dubai Media City in 2015. Demand was so high that fans gathered outside the venue until the last moment trying to get tickets. He is considered one of the best-selling and highest-charting male solo artists of today. His latest single, Shape of You, remained at the top of Billboard Top 100 for 12 non-consecutive weeks.
