covet!

Victoire de Castellane

One of the top jewellery designers in the world — famous for her designs for Dior’s haute joaillerie range — is finally getting her own imaginative and irreverent pieces sold in the UAE. De Castellane’s jewellery, using brilliant-cut diamonds, sapphires, emeralds, rubies and opals in lacquer-slicked pure gold, is inspired by pop culture and history, from Technicolor and the Brothers Grimm to Hollywood and manga. The pieces, at Harvey Nichols Dubai and Bloomingdale’s-Dubai, include four never before seen, with prices from Dh475,000-Dh2,750,000, from April 1.

work out!

New gym collections

The workout has left the sports store and hit the high street running with new collections from stores that usually don’t sell yoga pants. If you’ve got cash to splash, head to The Beach opposite JBR, where there’s a Roberto Cavalli store dedicated to sports and leisure clothing (animal print looks fab in spandex!). For a more budget-friendly option, Pull and Bear and Oysho this month debuted gymwear. Oysho’s Gymwear Studio collection has a ballet vibe with skirts, light T-shirts, crop tops and jumpsuits. Pull and Bear is more athletic, with gym shorts and crop tops with space for your keys and phone, technical outdoor clothing and accessories such as drinking bottles, belt pouches, sports bags, phone armbands, socks and even running shoes.

sustain!

H&M’s Conscious collection

The latest edition of the Swedish high-street retailer’s sustainable range hits UAE stores on April 16. The clothing is made using fabrics such as hemp, organic linen and organic leather, with the hopes of somewhat off-setting the damage done by industrial cotton production (which has a very high environmental impact). The collection focuses on the versatility of the dress, with global inspiration.

nail it!

Gel polish at home

The gel polish revolution continues, with London brand Ciate (the folks behind the caviar mani) getting in on the game with this new at-home kit that transforms regular polish into gel with a topcaot and LED light. The light cures the topcoat in 60 seconds, they say; the sister kit Detox, is for removal, which takes 10 minutes. Find the kits at Virgin Megastores and Beauty Solutions, Dh750 and Dh220. Can’t be bothered to do your own nails, but short on time? The new White Room Spa at Marina Mall says they can have your blow-dry done in 20 minutes and with minimal wallet impact (manis and pedis from Dh65, express facials from Dh90) and hair from Dh65). They also have locations in Motor City and Jumeirah Lake Towers; call 04-4421110.
