Sometime we crave a snow covered festive season and a crisp winter chill. This year, instead of visiting the mainstream winter destinations, why not go off the radar for a bit and check out these amazing destinations to enjoy a nice winter trip at. We’ve scoured HolidayME, Emirates Holidays and Holiday Factory to find offbeat winter destinations to avoid the crowds, enjoy plenty of snow and have a cosy festive season. 


1. Heidelberg, Germany

This romantic city is so beautiful, anyone would fall in love. It is situated in a beautiful little valley of the Odenwald Mountains and has a picturesque river that runs through it. Heidelberg is notable for its Medical University and for the Heidelberg Castle. Make sure you walks through its famous historical old town.

The Norwegian city of Tromso is stylish, contemporary and full of fun. The city is known for its brilliant display of the northern lights and midnight sun. The city has modern architecture, trendy restaurants and nightclubs.

Dublin, the capital of Ireland is an amazing place, but Cork is a city that’s quirky in its own way. It is super very easy to navigate, the local community is very friendly and very laid back. Cork is also full of great restaurants and pubs. If you’re a foodie, this one is definitely for you!

Often overlooked by Stockholm, Gothenburg is now gaining prominence as a tourist destination, but it’s still not that mainstream, so this might be your perfect chance to see the city, while it’s still unridden with tourist. It’s a city of beautiful landscapes comprising of an archipelago of 20 islands, stunning nature parks, year-long events pertaining to music, art, films and performing arts, and a rich culture. Gothenburg also stands on its own for its delicious array of seafood, amazing cafes and restaurants, fashion boutiques and plenty of creative vibes.
