“Ramadan is a month unlike any other month for everyone. It is the month of healing souls, being closer and more connected with God and with our families, being more patient and content, being more generous and open-handed… Over the years, Ramadan comes and it has always carried a lot of special moments for me to remember, equally.

The day of fasting starts with “Allah Akbar”, meaning God is the greatest, and it ends with the same words. It’s always been an amazing feeling being attached with those words, slashing through the silence, in between all that I am rushing to do, whether it’s to be on time for our activities, work, and prayers or to get help for something.

All family members, relatives, neighbours and friends around the same table at the same time, with no excuses to be late. Ramadan is the month of healing our souls, our bodies, our relations and our communities, which leads me to my most memorable experience during Ramadan.

The best experience I ever had was when I volunteered. Putting smiles on the faces of people who are really living in need, in a lifestyle that has left them with a lack of interest and care in their lives. However, by sharing during iftar time and seeing a number of life stories, you know you are doing the right thing.

At the end of Ramadan, I always wish that this time could remain for all months. A month of generosity, emotional awareness, physical and financial control, leaves me a little closer to those around me, leaves me a little more peaceful and a little more aware of the world around me.
