I work in the government sector in Dubai. I have now found a job opportunity in a private company to work in the afternoon. The company in which I am working asked me to obtain the approval of Ministry of Labour as a requirement for employment. My question here is; 1. Is it possible for the Ministry of Labour to provide me with an approval to work with a temporary work permit although I’m working in the government sector? 2. If the ministry will agree to provide me with permission, what will be the duration of that permission. 3. In case I leave the company (my second job) do I get my end of service? Please advise.

I would like to clarify to the questioner that he shall apply for his current employment approval to work as a temporary employee with a company in private sector then to apply for the Ministry of Labour for the approval to work in such company temporarily provided that the approval of the questioner’s government authority shall be attached to such application. In case of approval from the Ministry of Labour, such approval will be for six months only and renewable for another six months. Finally the questioner is not entitled for end of service because the permit is only for six months.

I live in Dubai. Two years ago, I leased my villa granted to me by Dubai government; the tenancy contract which I signed is for twenty years. The tenant gave me all cheques; one is cash and the others are PDC. On the date of the second cheque in the third year, when I submitted the same to the bank, it bounced due to insufficient money in the account. I submitted the said cheque to the police and then the owner of the cheque was referred to the criminal court; the court in return punished the cheque owner to three months in jail. Since he did not pay the amount, I went to the Rental Judicial Committee to file the case for claiming the cheque amount, I was told that I may not file such case before Rental Judicial Committee however, I need to file the same before the Dubai civil court on the basis that my tenancy contract is for long term. My question here is; how could not I file this case before the Rental Judicial Committee to claim my right as long as it is a rental case. Please advise.

I would like to clarify to the questioner that the advice of the Rental Judicial Committee not to file the case with them on the basis that it is a rental relationship long term is true and as per the Rental Judicial Committee Law the civil court have jurisdiction to consider the long term rental case not the Rental Judicial Committee.
