Just landed in Dubai? Don’t let the pressure get to you! Instead of dreading going out by yourself, enjoy the unlimited time to explore the city and its surrounding districts and the freedom that comes with being independent. Read the following tips that will show you how.

Tip #1 Watch the latest movies

It is almost therapeutic to watch movies. While you can try and stream movies online or on Netflix (just at around Dh40 per month), you can also try out the theatres in Dubai, some of which have unique experiences attached to their offers. And if you have a friend to go with you, go on Tuesdays or Wednesdays to get one ticket free for each one purchased from your service provider, Du (Tuesday) or etisalat (Wednesday).

Options Reel Cinemas, Vox Cinemas, Novo Cinemas, Lamcy Cinemas, Roxy Cinemas

Tip #2 Head to the beach

Summer is here so grab your sunscreen and hit the waves. There are free spots where you can just walk with your shades and flip-flops, play Frisbee if you’re with a group of friends and soak up some sun. Don't forget to pack some sandwiches and soft beverages.

Tip #3 Hit the gym

The gym is one of the places where it's difficult to come alone at first. This is why working out with a group in a gym is better if you have nothing else to do on a weekend and prefer working out rather than getting cosy in your couch. You could also join a gym which has group classes like Zumba and Les Mills workouts.

Tip #4 Go camping

If you are here in the UAE, camping is a must. Off-road enthusiasts will never have a problem with the idea of last-minute packing, toasted marshmallows and snugging in a small sleeping bag. It’s an ideal for a relaxing night under the sky, and the night sky in the desert is truly one to behold.

Tip #5 Do yoga

Living alone in Dubai forces people to face different emotions such as fear, anger or loneliness. Doing yoga lets one become happier, more expressive, more thoughtful and calmer, and being alone is the best way to do it. Although yoga classes are usually available at gyms, there are free yoga classes in Dubai that you can attend.

Tip #6 Treat yourself to a spa

Gone are the days when this form of therapy is just for the affluent and posh. Make at least once-a-month visit to the spa, soak your feet while sipping a cup of lavender tea. Frequent visits to get spa treatments gives physical and mental relaxation, better quality of sleep and fewer lonely or sick days.

Tip #7 Take photos of Dubai

People who want to spend time alone with a good pair of eyes for details usually love recording the views through photos. Go to the top photography spots in the city and take advantage of the scenic views in Dubai. Use your creative thinking to interpret and capture the world around you through the lens.
