DownTown Cafe opens in Karama

Karama’s already colourful food scene gets a new multi-cuisine cafe this week, opening November 17. The concept is to “encourage heart — to-heart conversations amidst international deliciousness, classy decor, foot-tapping music and award-winning hospitality,” say the people behind it.

They take the heart-to-heart bit very serious here: There won’t be any Wi-Fi and they expect you to talk to your friends. Menu includes something for everyone, from freshly brewed coffee, smoothies, heath drinks to appetisers, salads, steaks, gourmet burgers, pastas and desserts.

Where: DownTown Cafe, Umm Hurrair Building, Behind Dubai Snooker club, Near General Post office, Karama.
Opens at 6pm. Find them on Facebook: DownTown Cafe Dubai

Exploring foreign lands

Armani Hotel Dubai is set to take its diners on a gastronomical journey through the cities of Milan, Tokyo and New York, sitting right here in Dubai. The 2016 instalment of A World Journey: Four Chefs from Four Corners, will be an exclusive dining event showcasing the very best of the cities, on November 23 and 24, a statement read. Chefs Filippo Gozzoli from Milan, Francesco Mazzi from Tokyo and Michele Brogioni from New York, will join chef Alessandro Salvatico in his resident Armani/Ristorante Dubai kitchen to serve a seven-course degustation menu. The chefs from the iconic cities will serve dishes which will include, among other things, truffle, chestnuts, pumpkin and gold — as part of the ‘Gold Season’-themed menu. Appetites will be whet with pre-dinner apertivo — a selection of canapes by each of the four chefs. The World Journey began in November 2015 in Milan, and continued this April 2016 in Tokyo with Dubai its third stop. The series will conclude after the New York instalment in the coming year.
