Since the dawn of time, running has been a pursuit best saved for face-to-face encounters with angry bears. It was merely a method of survival. For tens of thousands of years, the idea of running for sport was as preposterous as dressing up as vampire.

Now, though, the world has changed. Running is seen as both an activity of sport and leisure, a means to stay fit and travel great distances quicker than slovenly walkers. But the idea of running for the sake of running still does not appeal to the majority; it is considered somewhat boring.

Turn Halloween into a spooky yet fun night with the second edition of Neo-Run in Abu Dhabi this Friday (October 28).

Event details

The overview NeoRun will be the scariest place to glow this weekend as runners – and walkers – of all abilities have a lot of fun dancing and walking through the neo-maze. They will dodge paint cannons, flesh-eating neo warriors, and cyborgs which are sure to scare the boo out you. All this capering is followed by the Enigma Party.

When Friday, October 28 at 7pm. NeoRunners should arrive from 5pm to get ready.

Where Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi

Cost Groups of four can book together at Dh165 per person. Standard entry is Dh185 per person. Get tickets here

What you get All neo-runners are given a t-shirt, a bib with competitor number, a pair of fetching goggles, a flash band and, for extra glow, a neo-sabre. To collect your glow-gear, you’ll need to present a valid ID and confirmation receipt.

Costumes Leave the lycra and sweatpants at home. You’ll need fangs, fake blood, and a broomstick if you’re going to conquer NeoRun. Costumes are a must!

Course The course has been divided into three perilous zones. You must run, walk or even monster-mash through the neo-underworld, past the haunted house and give the demon dolls the slip. Once you’ve completed the course, you can attend the Enigma party. Be warned, though, the course will be littered with neo-warriors splashing you with neon paint.

Note: The paint is non-toxic and water-soluble; however, get dressed in something you wouldn't mind getting immersed in fun neon colours.

Ages Children as young as 10 are welcome to enter, and there is no upper age-limit. Even skeletons are welcome.

Refreshments The course features water stations for the runners and crawlers to fuel up. You can also buy tokens for food and beverages after the race.
