Le Meridien Dubai

Nothing mysterious about Peter Andre except just how much he’s aged. At 44 (yes, we feel your pain), the once-famous washboard abs are coming to Le Meridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre next month as part of the hotel’s Wow! That’s What I Call Brunch series. It’ll be a 90s rewind as the reality TV star performs a selection of his smash hits over brunch. Put this dad of four in your diaries for October 27. Prices begin Dh350. Call 04 702 2455

7Elephants Dubai

We didn’t know elephants go into hibernation, but apparently that’s standard practice in the desert. DIFC newbie 7Elephants Dubai trumpets its way into party season with its signature stock exchange style drinks board — and app — from noon on Tuesday September 26. There’s a herd of new promotions, from business lunch to a night for ladies and another for non-commercial house music. As to forage, Chef Mahmoud Turkmani lines up comfort food from all over the planet, Italy, Mexico, Spain, India, Indonesia, Britain and the Middle East included.

Publique

The people at Publique have clearly been watching cheesy sci-fi movies. Beginning September 27, the Madinat Jumeirah venue is advertising Wednesdays over at the winter sports-themed bar are being transformed into a ‘Hot tub time machine’, with sticky hits from the Eighties and Nineties. Unlimited house bevvies are on offer from Dh199, and punters are encouraged to turn up from in neon ski garb from 9pm onwards. Call 04 4308550

Bistro Bagatelle

Brush up your high-school French and break out a beret from 8pm onwards on Tuesday September 26, as lounge singer Anna channels Edith Piaf over at Bistro Bagatelle for a special edition of Le Mardi C’est Permis, a weekly night named after a famous block of TV programming on the M6. There’s typical Parisian corner cafe food from Chef Timothy Newton to manger with it, such as Tartare de Boeuf, Salad Landaise, Loup de Mer and Moelleux à l’ananas (that’s steak tartare, fatty duck salad, seabass and pineapple cake in plain English — now you know why menus are written in French!)

Ritz-Carlton DIFC

Jean Claude van Damme can’t make it unfortunately, but there’ll be mussels and hops at the roaring 20s-inspired jazz evenings each Sunday at the Ritz-Carlton DIFC, when Desert Jazz takes to the stage to recreate the golden era of 1920s Brussels. But what’s jazz got to do with Belgium, you ask? Adolphe Sax, who gave his name to an instrument favoured by musical blowhards, hailed from Dinant, in the country’s south west. That’s your dose of culture while you imbibe those hops. From Dh95 per head.
