Gitex Shopper, the biannual tech fest, commences today at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). The event runs until October 10 and is open from 11am to 11pm throughout its eight days.

Last year, the show welcomed more than 211,398 visitors, and generated over Dh259 million in sales.

This year’s event marks the 25th anniversary of the region’s largest consumer electronics show, while the organisers and exhibitors have promised to make it worth remembering with the organisers promising a “sales bonanza” for visitors.

“Gitex Shopper has enjoyed extraordinary success from the show’s first edition, and with this year marking the 25th anniversary of the show, anticipation among retailers and consumers is at all-time high,” explains Trixie LohMirmand, Senior Vice-President at DWTC.

“Exhibitors will be unveiling incredible deals and prizes on all the latest tech products for work, home or school,” she adds. “Shoppers attending this edition of the Shopper are guaranteed to find the best deals on the latest consumer electronics this week.”

Global players such as Dell, HP, Huawei, Lenovo, Samsung and Toshiba will be among the many brands showcased. Top regional distributors and retailers, including E-City, Emax, Jacky’s, Jumbo, Max Electronics, Plug Ins and Sharaf DG will all be running special promotions exclusively during the Gitex Shopper.

Together with impressive bundle deals, shoppers also stand the chance to win gadgets, gold, a Mitsubishi Pajero and dream vacations — a reported Dh3 million in prizes over eight days.

“This year it is impossible not to be a winner at Gitex Shopper, whether you’re getting an unrivalled special offer on one of the more than 35,000 products on show, or are one of our lucky winners in the myriad promotions, competitions, giveaways and raffles being run throughout the eight days,” says LohMirmand.

Among the many gadgets at the show, the new Sony Xperia Z5, Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 and Gear S2 smartwatch are all confirmed to make an appearance.

C. Purushothaman, Head of Marketing, IM Division, Samsung Gulf Electronics, says that the newest in wearables and smartphones, including the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge+ and the new Galaxy Tab S2 will be at the show together with the Gear S2, which will be on display for the first time in the region.

Obi Worldphone will host the regional launch of its latest smartphones at Gitex Shopper as well. Amit Rupchandani, Managing Director at Obi Worldphone Europe Middle East and Africa, announced that Gitex marks the roll out of the brand’s flagship Obi Worldphone SF1, as well as the SJ1.5.

With non-stop gadget madness planned for the coming week, #GNTECH would like to end this by saying let the tech shopping begin... and may the deals be ever in your favour.
